## Biography

John Cullum is an American actor and singer. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, he graduated from the University of Tennessee and began his career on stage, making his Broadway debut in Camelot (1960).

He won two Tony Awards for Best Leading Actor in a Musical, for Shenandoah (1975) and On the Twentieth Century (1978), and received further nominations for On a Clear Day You Can See Forever (1966), Urinetown (2002) and 110 in the Shade (2007).

On screen, Cullum is known for playing Holling Vincoeur in the series Northern Exposure (1990–1995), for which he received an Emmy nomination, and for roles in films including 1776 (1972), All Good Things (2010), Kill Your Darlings (2013), Before We Go (2014) and Christine (2016). He has also appeared in recurring capacities on ER, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and The Middle.
