## Biography

John D.F. Black was an American screenwriter, television producer and director. He wrote episodes of numerous series including *The Fugitive* (1963), *Mission: Impossible* (1966), *Hawaii Five-O* (1968) and *Charlie's Angels* (1976). He also contributed to *Star Trek: The Original Series* as a writer and associate producer, and received story credit on two episodes of *Star Trek: The Next Generation* (1987), one under the pseudonym Ralph Wills.

Black co-wrote the screenplay for the feature film *Shaft* (1971). He attended Carnegie Mellon University and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He received an Edgar Award from the Writers Guild of America for his teleplay for the 1971 television film *Thief* and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award.
