## Biography

John Darnielle is an American musician, novelist and actor. He is best known as the founder and primary member of the indie folk band the Mountain Goats, which he established in 1991.

Darnielle made his acting debut in the 2023 Peacock series *Poker Face*, portraying Al, a member of a fictional one-hit-wonder metal band, in the episode "Rest in Metal". He also wrote songs performed by the band in the episode.

Born on 16 March 1967 in Bloomington, Indiana, Darnielle has written the novels *Wolf in White Van* (2014), *Universal Harvester* (2017) and *Devil House* (2022). He lives in Durham, North Carolina.
