## Biography

John Eldredge was an American stage, film and television actor. Born John Dornin Eldredge on 30 August 1904 in San Francisco, California, he died on 23 September 1961 in Laguna Beach, California. He began his career in repertory theatre and comic opera, later appearing in small parts on Broadway before securing a contract with Warner Bros. after a successful stage role opposite Lillian Gish.

His screen debut came in 1934 with *The Man with Two Faces* and *Flirtation Walk*, in which he played Lieutenant Biddle. Eldredge appeared in numerous films including *Dangerous* (1935), *High Sierra* (1941) and *An American in Paris* (1951), often in supporting or uncredited roles. He also worked extensively in television, with credits including episodes of *The Twilight Zone*, *Bonanza*, *Perry Mason* and *I Love Lucy*. He was the younger brother of character actor George Eldredge.
