## Biography

John Emery (20 May 1905 – 16 November 1964) was an American actor. Born in New York City to stage actors Edward Emery and Isabel Waldron, he was educated at La Salle Military Academy on Long Island. He made his Broadway debut in the 1920s and appeared in numerous stage productions, including Shakespearean roles and plays with Katharine Cornell.

Emery began his film career in the late 1930s with *The Road Back* (1937). He is known for supporting roles in *Here Comes Mr. Jordan* (1941) as Tony Abbott, *Spellbound* (1945) as Dr. Fleurot, *Joan of Arc* (1948) as Jean, Duke d'Alençon, *Rocketship X-M* (1950) as Dr. Karl Eckstrom, *The Mad Magician* (1954) and *Kronos* (1957). He also appeared in television series including *I Love Lucy*, *Alfred Hitchcock Presents* and *Have Gun – Will Travel*.
