John Entwistle (9 October 1944 – 27 June 2002) was an English musician and actor, best known as the bass guitarist for the rock band The Who. He appeared as himself in the concert film *Woodstock* (1970).

Entwistle performed with The Who at major events including Woodstock and Live Aid, and featured in the band's rock opera film *Tommy* (1975). He also provided a voice cameo as himself in an episode of *The Simpsons* (1989). His work with the band led to induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.
