## Biography

John Ericson (sometimes credited as John Erickson; born Joachim Alexander Ottokar Meibes) was a German-American actor. He was born in Düsseldorf, Germany, on 25 September 1926 and died in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on 3 May 2020.

He trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and appeared on Broadway in the original 1951 production of *Stalag 17*. His film debut came in *Teresa* (1951), directed by Fred Zinnemann. He appeared in several MGM films in the 1950s, including *Rhapsody* (1954), *Green Fire* (1954) and *Bad Day at Black Rock* (1955), in which he played Pete Wirth.

Ericson’s later career was primarily in television, with guest roles in series such as *Bonanza*, *Knight Rider* and *Murder, She Wrote*, and a co-starring role in *Honey West* (1965–66). He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
