## Biography

John F. Warren (also credited as John Warren) was an American cinematographer. He began his career as a slate boy for Metro Pictures in New York before moving to the west coast, and later worked as a camera operator on films including *Samson and Delilah* (1949).

He served as director of photography on *The Country Girl* (1954), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Cinematography (Black-and-White). Other credits include *The Seven Little Foys* (1955), *The Search for Bridey Murphy* (1956), *Zero Hour!* (1957), *The Colossus of New York* (1958) and *Torn Curtain* (1966). He also contributed additional photography to *The Ten Commandments* (1956) and worked on numerous television series.

Warren was an active member of the American Society of Cinematographers and retired to Camarillo, California, where he died in 2000.
