## Biography

John Harrison was a British theatre director, producer and writer. He served as artistic director of the Nottingham Playhouse (1952-57), the Birmingham Repertory Theatre (1961-66) and the Leeds Playhouse (1972-89), and wrote an autobiography, *Not Quite Famous* (2004).

He also worked in television as an executive and writer. His credits include episodes of *Upstairs, Downstairs* (1971), as well as other series such as *Maigret* and *The Cedar Tree*.
