## Biography

John Hora (1940–2021) was an American cinematographer. Born in Pasadena, California, he graduated from the University of Southern California film school and became a member of the American Society of Cinematographers.

He was best known for his long collaboration with director Joe Dante, serving as director of photography on *The Howling* (1981), *Twilight Zone: The Movie* (1983), *Gremlins* (1984), *Explorers* (1985), *Gremlins 2: The New Batch* (1990) and *Matinee* (1993). His other credits include *Honey, I Blew Up the Kid* (1992) and *Moonwalker* (1988).

Hora also worked on large-format and documentary projects, including IMAX films, and served on the ASC Board of Governors.
