John J. Campbell was an American cinematographer. He was born in 1950 in Ohio and was based in the Portland, Oregon area for much of his career. He died on 8 December 2019 in Portland.

Campbell served as director of photography on Gus Van Sant's *Mala Noche* (1986) and shared cinematography duties with Eric Alan Edwards on *My Own Private Idaho* (1991). He also worked with Van Sant on *Even Cowgirls Get the Blues* (1993). His other credits include *Rough Magic* (1995), *Sisters* (2006) and the documentary *Alien Boy: The Life and Death of James Chasse* (2013). He received two award nominations during his career.
