He began his career on Broadway under the name Giles V. Kellogg, appearing in the long-running comedy Brother Rat, before moving into film bit parts and signing a contract with Columbia Pictures in 1946. Kellogg played mostly supporting roles, including Major Cobb in the 1949 war film Twelve O'Clock High. Other credits include A Walk in the Sun (1945), The Greatest Show on Earth (1952) and numerous television guest appearances in series such as Bonanza, The Virginian and Gunsmoke. He had a recurring role as Jack Chandler in the soap opera Peyton Place (1966–67).
