## Biography

John Kilby was a British television producer and director. He began his career in the 1970s as a production assistant on series including *Open All Hours* (1976) and later worked extensively in BBC comedy.

Kilby produced episodes of *Hi-de-Hi!* (1980) and directed many more, collaborating with writers David Croft and Jimmy Perry. He also produced and directed on *Alas Smith & Jones* (1984), *KYTV* (1989) and other series such as *Comrade Dad* and *You Must Be the Husband*. He won a BAFTA Award for best comedy series.
