## Biography

John Kruse was an English screenwriter, director and novelist. He wrote for the television series *The Avengers* (1961), *The Saint* (1962–1969), *The Persuaders!* (1971) and *The Professionals* (1977–1980), as well as the films *Hell Drivers* (1957) and *Sea Fury* (1958).

Kruse began in the film industry after the Second World War, working at Pinewood Studios before becoming a full-time screenwriter in the 1950s. His first credited film was *Hell Drivers*, co-written with Cy Endfield from his own short story. He also directed the film *October Moth* (1960).

In 1981 he moved to Spain and turned to novel writing, publishing the best-selling thriller *Red Omega* among three novels. He was married to Ruth Ecob.
