## Biography

John Lafia (2 April 1957 – 29 April 2020) was an American film and television director and screenwriter. He studied at the University of California, Los Angeles, and began his career in the art department on films including *Repo Man* (1984). His feature directorial debut was *The Blue Iguana* (1988), which he also wrote.

Lafia co-wrote the screenplay for *Child's Play* (1988) and directed its sequel *Child's Play 2* (1990). He wrote and directed *Man's Best Friend* (1993), and later directed episodes of series including *Freddy's Nightmares*, *Babylon 5* (three episodes in 1997) and *The Dead Zone* (2002). He wrote, directed and produced the NBC miniseries *10.5* (2004) and its sequel *10.5: Apocalypse* (2006).
