## Biography

John MacCarthy was a Canadian director, producer and assistant director. He worked extensively on the television series *Supernatural* (2005), serving as first assistant director on 107 episodes between 2006 and 2018 and directing four episodes: "The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo" (2012), "Rock and a Hard Place" (2013), "Ask Jeeves" (2014) and "The Raid" (2017). He also directed the television film *Cold Zone* (2017).

Earlier in his career MacCarthy held second assistant director and second unit first assistant director positions on feature films including *Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed* (2004), *Elektra* (2005), *Final Destination 3* (2006) and *Snakes on a Plane* (2006). He later worked as a producer on several television films. MacCarthy passed away in August 2023.
