## Biography

John McPherson was an American cinematographer and director. Born in Los Angeles on 30 December 1941, he began working in the film industry as a gaffer in 1965 and moved into television cinematography in 1977.

He served as director of photography on the television series *The Incredible Hulk* (1977) and *Amazing Stories* (1985–1987), for which he received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Cinematography for a Series. His feature film credits as cinematographer include *Jaws: The Revenge* (1987), *batteries not included* (1987) and *Short Circuit 2* (1988). He joined the American Society of Cinematographers in 1980.

From the early 1990s McPherson directed episodes of series including *JAG* (1995), *Sliders* (1995), *Babylon 5* (1994), *Nash Bridges* (1996) and *Beverly Hills, 90210* (1990), as well as several television films. He was a member of the Directors Guild of America from 1984 until his death on 21 December 2007 in Westlake Village, California.
