John Oliver is a British-American comedian, actor and writer. Born on 23 April 1977 in Erdington, Birmingham, he trained at Christ's College, Cambridge, where he was a member of the Footlights.

He is known for his work as a correspondent on *The Daily Show with Jon Stewart*, for which he won an Emmy in 2009, and as host of *Last Week Tonight with John Oliver* since 2014. He played the recurring character Professor Ian Duncan on the series *Community* (2009–2015). Oliver has collaborated extensively with Andy Zaltzman on stand-up, podcasts and radio series including *The Bugle*.
