## Biography

John Paxton was an American actor. He appeared in supporting roles in several films and television series from the mid-1990s onwards.

He is best known for playing Mr. Schmitt in *A Simple Plan* (1998), and Houseman in *Spider-Man* (2002), *Spider-Man 2* (2004) and *Spider-Man 3* (2007). Other credits include *Oz the Great and Powerful* (2013), *Drag Me to Hell* (2009) and *Frailty* (2002).

Paxton was the father of actor Bill Paxton. He began his screen career late in life after working in business.
