## Biography

John Rappaport is an American screenwriter and producer. He began his television career writing for *Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In* from 1969 to 1973, contributing to 100 episodes, and also wrote for *The Lily Tomlin Show* (1973).

He subsequently worked on several sitcoms, serving as a story editor and writer on *All in the Family* (1973–1975) and contributing to *Maude*, *The Odd Couple* (1974–1975) and *The Bob Newhart Show* (1974). Rappaport joined *M*A*S*H* as head writer and supervising producer for its final four seasons (1979–1983), writing multiple episodes and co-writing the series finale "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen". He received eight Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
