## Biography

John Ross Bowie is an American actor and comedian. He was born on 30 May 1971 in New York City and graduated from Ithaca College with a BA in English. He taught English for one year before pursuing acting and comedy.

Bowie is best known for playing Barry Kripke in *The Big Bang Theory* (2007–2019) and reprising the role in the spin-off series *Stuart Fails to Save the Universe* (2026). He had a main role as Jimmy DiMeo in *Speechless* (2016–2019) and has appeared in films including *The Heat* (2013) and *Jumanji: The Next Level* (2019). He is a regular performer at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater and was a member of the sketch group The Naked Babies. Bowie was formerly a member of the New York pop-punk band Egghead.
