## Biography

John Rothman is an American film, television and stage actor. Born on 3 June 1949 in Baltimore, Maryland, he graduated from Wesleyan University and the Yale School of Drama. He began his career in theatre, appearing in Off-Broadway productions and writing and performing the one-person play *The Impossible H. L. Mencken*.

Rothman made his film debut in Woody Allen's *Stardust Memories* (1980) and went on to appear in several of the director's films, including *Zelig* (1983) and *The Purple Rose of Cairo* (1985), in which he played Mr. Hirsch's Lawyer. His other screen credits include *Ghostbusters* (1984), *Big* (1988), *Gettysburg* (1993) as Union General John F. Reynolds, and *United 93* (2006) as Edward Felt. He has also had recurring or guest roles in series such as *Suits*, *Law & Order: Special Victims Unit* and *One Mississippi*.

He is the brother of film executive Thomas Rothman.
