John Stanier is a British cinematographer and camera operator. Born on 28 January 1942 in London, he began working in the camera department in the 1970s.

He served as camera operator on films including *Bugsy Malone* (1976), *Midnight Express* (1978), *Monty Python's Life of Brian* (1979), *Fame* (1980), *Shoot the Moon* (1982) and *Pink Floyd: The Wall* (1982). Stanier was director of photography on *Oxford Blues* (1984), *Death Wish 3* (1985), *The Dirty Dozen: The Next Mission* (1985) and *Rambo III* (1988).

Later credits include cinematography on segments of *If These Walls Could Talk* (1996) and *West of Thunder* (2012), where he also worked as associate producer and supervising editor. He was previously married to Patricia Tarr.
