## Biography

John Tinker is an American television writer and producer. He began his career as a writer on the NBC medical drama *St. Elsewhere* (1982–1988), for which he shared a 1986 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series.

He has written for series including *Chicago Hope* (1994), *The Practice* (1997), *L.A. Law* (1986) and *Judging Amy* (1999), which he co-created. Tinker developed the Hallmark Channel series *Chesapeake Shores* (2016) and served as showrunner and writer on *When Calls the Heart* (2014) for its eighth and ninth seasons. He also wrote the Hallmark Hall of Fame film *Love Locks* (2017).

Tinker is the son of television executive Grant Tinker and the brother of producer Mark Tinker.
