## Biography

John Webb Dillion (also credited as John Dillon, Jack Dillon and Walter Dillion) was an English actor. Born in London on 6 February 1877, he appeared in more than 80 films between 1911 and 1947, often in supporting or uncredited roles.

He began his screen career in the silent era with parts such as the Sheriff of Nottingham in *Robin Hood* (1913), Tybalt in *Romeo and Juliet* (1916) and Clopin in *The Darling of Paris* (1917). Later credits include the Tall Woodsman in the prologue of *The Iron Horse* (1925) and Second Soldier in *In Old Arizona* (1928). In the sound era he took numerous small parts, among them a policeman in *Lady in the Lake* (1946).

Dillion was married to the actress Catherine V. Earl until her death in 1946. He died in Hollywood, California, on 20 December 1949.
