John Whelpley is a television writer and producer. He began his career writing for series including *Trapper John, M.D.* and *Charlie's Angels* in the 1970s and 1980s, later contributing episodes to *MacGyver* (1985) and serving as a producer on the show.

Whelpley wrote for *Star Trek: The Next Generation*, co-authoring the teleplay for the 1990 episode 'Suddenly Human' with Jeri Taylor. He pitched and co-wrote the story and teleplay for the *Star Trek: Deep Space Nine* 1993 episode 'Invasive Procedures' with Robert Hewitt Wolfe. He later wrote multiple episodes of *Andromeda* and *Earth: Final Conflict*.

His other credits include episodes of *Beverly Hills, 90210*, *The Outer Limits*, *Baywatch* and *Dallas*. He has also written teleplays and screenplays for the *Tremors* film series, including *Tremors 3: Back to Perfection* (2001), *Tremors 5: Bloodlines* (2015) and *Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell* (2018).
