John Young (16 June 1916 – 30 October 1996) was a Scottish actor. He joined the Edinburgh Gateway Company in 1953 and appeared in numerous stage productions, films and television series over four decades.

His film roles include the fishmonger in *The Wicker Man* (1973), Dead Body and Historian Frank in *Monty Python and the Holy Grail* (1975), Matthias in *Monty Python's Life of Brian* (1979), Reginald in *Time Bandits* (1981) and Rev. J.D. Liddell in *Chariots of Fire* (1981). On television he played Rev. Iain McPherson in the Scottish soap opera *Take the High Road* for many years from 1980. He was the father of actor Paul Young.
