## Biography

Johnny Brown (also credited as John Brown) was an American actor, comedian and singer. He appeared as Sam the Piano Player in an episode of the series *Moonlighting* (1985).

Brown was best known for his recurring role as building superintendent Nathan Bookman on the sitcom *Good Times* (1975–1979). He was a regular cast member on *Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In* and appeared in guest roles on series including *The Jeffersons*, *Family Matters*, *Sister, Sister*, *Martin* and *Kenan & Kel*. His film credits include *The Out-of-Towners* (1970), *The Wiz* (1978) and *Life* (1999).

He began his career as a singer and nightclub performer, and appeared on Broadway in *Golden Boy* (1964) with Sammy Davis Jr. Brown was the father of actress Sharon Brown. He died in Los Angeles in 2022.
