## Biography

Johnny Hardwick, also credited as John Michael Hardwick, was an American voice actor, comedian, writer and producer. He provided the voice of Dale Gribble on the animated series *King of the Hill* (1997) throughout its original 13-season run, appearing in 257 of 258 episodes, and contributed as a staff writer, story editor and producer on the show.

Hardwick began his career performing stand-up comedy in Texas. He was hired as a writer for *King of the Hill* after a performance seen by co-creator Greg Daniels. As a producer on the series he shared a Primetime Emmy Award in 1999 for Outstanding Animated Program, and received additional nominations. He later maintained a YouTube channel featuring song parodies and monologues in the voice of Dale Gribble.

Hardwick died on 8 August 2023 in Austin, Texas, aged 64. He had recorded lines for six episodes of a *King of the Hill* revival prior to his death.
