Jon Cowan is an American television writer and producer. He began his career as a playwright and received an MFA from UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television.

He has written episodes for series including *Bones* (2005), *Private Practice* (2007), *Suits* (2011), *Crossing Jordan* (2001), *Pure Genius* (2016) and *Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector* (2020). He has also worked as a producer on many of these programmes, including as showrunner on *Private Practice* and executive producer on *Suits*.

More recent credits include writing for *Alert: Missing Persons Unit* (2023) and *Suits LA* (2025). His first novel, *Proof*, was published in 2025.
