## Biography

Jon East is a British television director. He trained at the West Surrey College of Art & Design and began his career as a storyboard and concept artist before working as a film editor at the BBC. He later served as chief storyline writer and producer on the soap *EastEnders* and ran the BBC Children's Drama & Animation Department from 2005 to 2009.

East has directed episodes of numerous series, including *Killing Eve* (2018), *The Last Kingdom* (2017–2022), *Lost in Space* (2019), *Pennyworth* (2019), *Cursed* (2020), *Whiskey Cavalier* (2019) and *Surface* (2022). A BAFTA and Royal Television Society award winner, he received a BAFTA for the single film *That Summer Day* (2006).
