Jon Povill (born 29 August 1946) is an American writer and producer. He began working with Gene Roddenberry in the mid-1970s, initially helping with office matters before contributing story ideas and treatments for potential Star Trek projects. He served as story editor on the unproduced Star Trek: Phase II and co-wrote the episode 'The Child' for it with Jaron Summers.

Povill received an associate producer credit on Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979). His screen story for Total Recall formed the basis of the 1990 film and was credited on the 2012 remake. He wrote episodes of Sliders (1995–1996) and The Outer Limits (1998), and worked as a producer on Sliders.
