## Biography

Jonathan Cullen is a British actor of stage, film and television. Born in 1960 in Newcastle upon Tyne, he read French and Philosophy at New College, Oxford, before training at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, from which he graduated in 1985.

He has performed leading roles with the National Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company and in the West End, and has also directed and taught at Guildhall, RADA, the American Conservatory Theater and the British American Drama Academy. Television credits include the Headmaster in the BBC sitcom *Outnumbered* (2007–2008), *Midsomer Murders* (as Melrose Plunkett) and *New Tricks*. Film appearances include *Velvet Goldmine* (1998), *Fred Claus* (2007), *London Boulevard* (2010) and *The Foreigner* (2017).
