## Biography

Jörg Widmer is a German cinematographer and Steadicam operator. He trained as a photographer, specialising in car advertising photography, before completing an internship at public broadcaster Südwestfunk and working as a camera assistant. Since 1988 he has worked as a cinematographer and Steadicam operator.

Widmer served as director of photography on Wim Wenders’ *Buena Vista Social Club* (1999). He has collaborated extensively with Terrence Malick, operating camera and Steadicam on films including *The Tree of Life* (2011) and *V for Vendetta* (2006), and acting as cinematographer on *A Hidden Life* (2019). His other credits as operator or second-unit cinematographer include *Amélie* (2001), *Good Bye, Lenin!* (2003) and *Atomic Blonde* (2017).

In 1994 Widmer received the Bayerischer Filmpreis for camera work on *Das Versprechen*. He was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2020.
