## Biography

Jorge Durán is a Chilean screenwriter and director. Born in Santiago in 1942, he studied theatre at the University of Chile before moving to Brazil in 1973, where he has worked extensively in film and television.

He is known for his screenplays for Héctor Babenco’s *Lúcio Flávio* (1977) and *Pixote* (1980), the latter co-written with Babenco and based on a novel by José Louzeiro. Other notable writing credits include *Gaijin* (1980) for Tizuka Yamasaki. As a director he has made *A Cor de seu Destino* (1986), *Proibido Proibir* (2006) and *Não Se Pode Viver Sem Amor* (2011).
