## Biography

Jorge Porcel was an Argentine comedy actor and television host. Born Jorge Raúl Porcel de Peralta on 7 September 1936 in Buenos Aires, he died on 16 May 2006 in Miami, Florida. He appeared in around 50 films between 1962 and 1993, often in collaboration with Alberto Olmedo, and was known by the nickname El Gordo de América.

Many of his Argentine films from the 1970s and 1980s were adult-oriented comedies directed by Gerardo Sofovich or Hugo Sofovich. His final screen role was as Saso in the 1993 film *Carlito's Way*. He also hosted several television variety shows in Argentina and later in Miami, where he opened a restaurant.
