## Biography

Jorma Markkula (1945–2024) was a Finnish actor and theatre director. He studied at the drama studio of Tampere University from 1966 to 1971, having previously worked as a journalist. His theatre career included engagements at Kajaanin kaupunginteatteri and Seinäjoen kaupunginteatteri, where he served as an actor-director in the 1980s, as well as periods as a freelance artist and regional arts official.

Markkula appeared in more than twenty films between 1981 and 2013, primarily in supporting roles. His credits include *Syöksykierre* (1981), *The Worthless* (1982), *The Clan – Tale of the Frogs* (1984) and *Ariel* (1988), in which he played the tallyman. He was married to actress Marja-Sisko Aimonen.
