## Biography

José Luis Gómez García is a Spanish actor and theatre director. Born in Huelva on 19 April 1940, he trained at the Institute of Dramatic Art of Westphalia in Bochum and at the school of Jacques Lecoq in Paris.

He has appeared in films since 1968, including *Pascual Duarte* (1976), for which he won the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival; *Goya's Ghosts* (2006); *Broken Embraces* (2009) as Ernesto Martel; *The Skin I Live In* (2011); and *Official Competition* (2021). He is a member of the Real Academia Española and has directed the Centro Dramático Nacional and the Teatro Español.
