He was born in Barcelona on 10 November 1919 and died in Madrid on 6 November 1999. He began his professional career in the theatre in the company of Adolfo Marsillach after working as a fabric salesman and participating in amateur productions. His film debut came in 1957 with *El último cuplé*. He appeared as a supporting actor in more than 160 films, including *Doctor Zhivago* (1965), *Tristana* (1970) as Don Zenón, *The Passenger* (1975), and *Plácido* (1962) as Zapater. He also worked extensively in television and as a voice actor in dubbing.
