He is known for his role as Pablo in *The Treasure of the Sierra Madre* (1948), Captain Alvarado in *The Hitch-Hiker* (1953), and appearances in *Enamorada* (1946) as Maestro Apolonio Sánchez, *Two Mules for Sister Sara* (1970), and *Chisum* (1970). Torvay also worked in France and took on a wide range of character roles, including police officers, military figures and civilians.
