## Biography

Joseph Bologna was an American actor, playwright and screenwriter. He was born on 30 December 1934 in Brooklyn, New York, and died on 13 August 2017 in Duarte, California. He studied art history at Brown University and served in the United States Marine Corps before working in advertising and writing comedy material.

Bologna frequently collaborated with his wife, actress and writer Renée Taylor, whom he married in 1965. Together they wrote the play and film *Lovers and Other Strangers* (1970), for which they received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay, and the film *Made for Each Other* (1971). His notable acting roles include King Kaiser in *My Favorite Year* (1982), Joey in *The Woman in Red* (1984), and Lenny Koufax in *Big Daddy* (1999). He also voiced characters in *Superman: The Animated Series* (1996–1998) and *Ice Age: The Meltdown* (2006).

Bologna appeared in numerous television series, including *The Nanny*, *Married... with Children*, *According to Jim* and *CSI: Crime Scene Investigation*.
