## Biography

Joseph F. Coffey (1915–2000) was an American cinematographer and camera operator. He worked primarily in the camera department from the 1950s onwards, advancing to director of photography for a small number of features in the late 1960s.

Coffey served as director of photography on *Up the Down Staircase* (1967), *The Producers* (1967) and *For Love of Ivy* (1968), and on an episode of the anthology series *ABC Stage 67* (1966). He later worked as a camera operator on films including *Fame* (1980), *Kramer vs. Kramer* (1979, as associate director of photography), *Birdy* (1984) and *Eddie Murphy Raw* (1987).
