## Biography

Joseph Losey was an American theatre and film director. He was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin, on 14 January 1909 and died in London on 22 June 1984.

After studying in Germany with Bertolt Brecht, Losey worked in the United States before being blacklisted in the 1950s. He then moved to Europe and made the remainder of his films, mostly in the United Kingdom.

Losey directed and produced *The Servant* (1963). He is also known for his collaborations with Harold Pinter on *Accident* (1967) and *The Go-Between* (1971), as well as *Mr. Klein* (1976), *The Damned* (1962) and earlier films including *The Prowler* (1951) and *The Boy with Green Hair* (1948).
