## Biography

Juan Esplandiu was a Spanish actor, costume designer and production designer. He appeared in uncredited roles in two early films directed by Luis Buñuel: as a stroller in the surrealist short *Un Chien Andalou* (1929) and as a bandit in *L'Âge d'or* (1930).

He later received a credited acting part in *María Fernanda, la Jerezana* (1947). Esplandiu worked as costume designer on *Surcos* (1951) and as production designer on *El andén* (1957). He was born in 1901 and died on 3 December 1978 in Madrid.
