Juanita Moore was an American film, television and stage actress. She was born on 19 October 1914 in Greenwood, Mississippi, and died on 1 January 2014 in Los Angeles, California.

Moore made her film debut in the late 1930s and appeared in numerous supporting roles. Her performance as Annie Johnson in the 1959 film *Imitation of Life* earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress and a Golden Globe nomination. She was the fifth black actor nominated for an Oscar in any category and the third in the Supporting Actress category.

She worked steadily in film and television into the 2000s and had a background in stage performance, including with the Cambridge Players.
