He was born on 9 February 1883 in Poitiers, Vienne, and died on 23 April 1951 in Paris. Berry began his stage career in the early 1900s after studies at the Lycée Louis-le-Grand and the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts. He performed in Paris theatres and spent over a decade at the Théâtre royal des Galeries Saint-Hubert in Brussels before returning to prominent roles in Parisian boulevard theatre. His film work began with the silent *Oliver Cromwell* (1911) and continued in the sound era from *Mon coeur et ses millions* (1931).
