## Biography

Jules Borkon was a film producer. Born Julius Ilyich Borku on 25 January 1896 in Daugavpils, then part of the Russian Empire, he later became a naturalised French citizen and died on 10 January 1968 in Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, France.

He began his career as an impresario organising live spectacles across Europe before moving into film production in the 1950s. Borkon produced *Eyes Without a Face* (1960, also known as *Les Yeux sans visage*), directed by Georges Franju, as well as *Neither Seen Nor Recognized* (1958) and *The Adventures of Arsène Lupin* (1957). He also produced *The Dialogue of the Carmelites* (1960) and gave Louis de Funès early leading film roles in *Like a Hair in the Soup* (1957) and *Neither Seen Nor Recognized*.
