Julia Cameron is an American writer, journalist and screenwriter. Born on 4 March 1948 in Libertyville, Illinois, she began her career in journalism after college, writing for *The Washington Post* and *Rolling Stone*.

Her screenwriting credits include the *Miami Vice* episode 'Junk Love' (1985) and the treatment for *American Boy: A Profile of Steven Prince* (1978). She wrote, produced and directed the independent feature *God's Will* (1989).

Cameron is the author of the bestselling creativity guide *The Artist's Way* (1992) and numerous other non-fiction books, novels and plays. She was married to film director Martin Scorsese from 1976 to 1977; they have one daughter.
