## Biography

Julia Liu, also credited as Julia C. Liu, is an American cinematographer and director based in Providence, Rhode Island. A graduate of Brown University, she began her career as a camera assistant on series including *Person of Interest*, *White Collar* and *Girls* before moving into cinematography.

She has served as director of photography on the documentaries *Take Your Pills* (2018), *We Are: The Brooklyn Saints* (2021), *White Hot: The Rise & Fall of Abercrombie & Fitch* (2022) and *STILL: A Michael J. Fox Movie* (2023). The latter earned her a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Cinematography for a Nonfiction Program, shared with C. Kim Miles and Clair Popkin. Liu has also worked as a camera operator on narrative features such as *American Fiction* (2023).

As a director, her short *Driving While Black Magic* (2020) screened at several festivals. She contributes to the New York Times Op-Doc series, is a NAACP Image Award nominee and a DOC NYC 40 Under 40 honoree.
