## Biography

Julia Marie Newmann is an American composer and orchestrator. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music in composition from the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music in 2003, where she also completed the film scoring programme and received a BMI award.

She is best known for her work on the television series *Bones* (2005), on which she contributed additional music and original scores across nine seasons in collaboration with composer Sean Callery. Her contributions earned four ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards (2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016). Newmann has also provided music for series including *Medium*, *The Finder* and *Doubt*, and her work features regularly in *Dateline NBC*.

Earlier in her career she assisted and orchestrated for James Newton Howard on films such as *Michael Clayton* (2007), *The Great Debaters* (2007) and *The Water Horse* (2007). She served as scoring mixer on *The Happening* (2008). With her husband, composer Cody Westheimer, she co-founded the music production company New West Studios.
